They Want a Robot to Deal With Your Old Laptop.

Revise Robotics is working on the awkward middle of electronics resale: testing, wiping, documenting and preparing used machines for another owner.

Your old laptop might still be useful.

Unfortunately, somebody has to find out what’s wrong with it first.

Then wipe it. Test it. Work out what it is. Photograph it. Get it ready for someone who expects the damn thing to work when it arrives.

Revise Robotics is building automation for that process.

Founded by Rupesh Jeyaram and Antonio Monreal, the company describes a robotic system for electronics refurbishment facilities, starting with laptops. Its stated workflow includes testing devices, wiping storage, photographing them and creating resale listings.

We like this because the work already has a purpose. There’s a device at one end and a potential second owner at the other. The middle is a collection of physical and digital tasks that somebody has to complete.

It is also messy in ways a polished demo can conceal. Different models. Different operating systems. Missing information. Machines that have spent years acquiring problems their manufacturers didn’t plan for.

Revise’s public launch described an initial pilot. That is an early milestone, and we’re treating the broader automation claims as something the team still has to demonstrate across real inventories.

The question we care about is whether it improves the economics per device. How much can the system process, how much intervention does it need, and how confidently can the next buyer trust the result?

If those answers improve, more devices might be worth putting back into circulation.

There’s a whole robotics story hiding in the pile of equipment someone else decided to get rid of.

Revise is choosing to look through it.
